Mouse problem

I turned on my computer yesterday to find out that I can move my mouse, highlight icons by just hovering over them, but I am unable to click (left or right) for the life of me, I can scroll pages with the scroll bar but for everything else I have to use the keyboard. I have Vista. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Sounds like the mouse itself, the drivers for the mouse, or something to do with the plug in for mouse, ie USB, PS/2, etc. Have you tried restarting the computer, using a different mouse, etc?

I have restarted, forced shut down, used different USB slots. I have tried to update the drivers for it. Could it be something with the registry? I haven't tried a new mouse yet but I will have to for now... Once I changed the USB the mouse went inverted all the way around, then I unplugged it and put it back in then it moved fine, but still no clicking could be done.

Ive never heard of the mouse inverting when you plug it into a different port. And no it wont be anything to do with your registry.

My first reccomendation would be to try a different mouse in the same computer, which should clarify that it is the mouse that has had its day :)

Let us know how you get on
