Move Programs

Hello
I restored my Dell Dimension 4600.
I Partitioned my Harddrive to 2 sections. I was goning to use one for Just the WINDOWS XP, and the second for programs and music misc. I when i restored my computer windows automatticlay put the program files folder where the windows are how can i move or relocate the folder so all the programs work properly. If i copy and paste and then delete the program files on the windows partiotion it says the programs wont work properly. How can i do this so all the programs work properly???

I partitioned my hardrive in to two parts and i wanted one just to hold the Windows file. and i want the other partition to hold all my installed programs(the folder program files)
 
how did you partition the HD? did you use a separate software? because i believe that "program files" is under the windows tree. and just installing windows to one partition will still put that folder in your windows partition. and you may try just installing the programs manually onto your second partition. i run most of my progs off of my secondary drive simply because its bigger than my main HD and i can't afford an upgrade yet.
 
are you asking if yo ucan change the location of the "program folders file", yes you can do that easliy with tweakui

You can then move the contents of yous current program files folde into the new one. But dont expect an easy ride, badly written apps may address your program folder file absolutly rather than relatively. And you may need to iinstall the apps to your new program files folder rather simply moving it.
