Moving a file from PC to external hard drive

I don't know if this is the place to post this, but recently I have been not able to move a file from my computer to an external hard drive. The error message I get says Not enough space or write-protected. When there is clearly enough space on the external hard drive (15 gig left). It says I have to disk clean-up my external hard drive and which I do than it still won't let me. Now if my file IS write-protected, How do I UNwrite-protect it?
 
UPDATE: Okay, so now it's just saying there isn't enough space on my hard drive to put in on there. I'm trying to move a 7 gig file to a 15 gig left hard drive.
