Moving files from C: to F:

What is the best way to move files/folders from one internal drive to another internal drive on the same machine? I want to free up space on C drive in order to run programs better. What are the files that can be moved, and still let the machine know where everything is so that I don't get the "path is not good/valid error"?
 
The best and easiest files to copy (then delete originals, ie not "move)
Is all your data, in your User Documents folder

You can also install programs (through custom install) to your second hard drive

You can also download and run CCleaner, to clean up temp files

Oh, you can also put your pagefile on the second Hard drive too

How will the machine know where I put the "data files"? I don't know what that is, but when the machine goes to the original spot it was and it is not there because I moved it, how will it know where to find it?

Do you have to un-install and then install using the "browse" option during installation?

I will have to do this after I make some room on the h/d.

You'll update your shortcuts to reflect the new location.

Or, just create new shortcuts.

This is for data only. For programs, you'll need to backup, uninstall, then reinstall on the other drive.
 
You can pull up both drives and then just drag and drop files from one drive to the other.

Any folder that has "Windows" in the title I would not touch. If you have any doubts if a certain file folder is needed for Windows XP to work correctly just ask us.

Once the file folders are copied you can delete them off of the old drive.
