Moving Window?

I have windows 8 pro installed, and I have installed quite a lot of apps and have a lot of files, now I want to get a different hdd/ssd and I would obviously like to move the apps and windows to the ssd for a faster boot, but my question is: Can I do that w/o loosing my apps and re-installing windows?

(by the way I wasn't sure where to put this thread, so I'm sorry if it's in the wrong section :()

Oh, and the title was supposed to be moving windowS :D

It would be easier in the long run to just reinstall. I'm pretty sure there should be a way to sync the apps you had, but not completely sure.

I think there is some way but I'm not sure how to.... maybe if I just plug in the new storage device, format it in my computer, and then insert the installation disc, I can perform a re-fresh installation and change the location of windows. The only problem is that apps will stay in the same place which I don't want to happen...

Yeah, definately wouldn't clone from hdd to SSD. You get best performance from SSD when you do a fresh install. You get best performance when running SSD in ahci mode and in order to do that would need a fresh install anyway.

You can clone from HDD to an SSD.

I have a CRUCIAL REAL SSD installed now for three years cloned from an HDD.
When I purchased this at the same time I bought the optional DATA TRANSFER KIT which cost a little bit more.
I believe now it is included with the SSD and the total cost is about a third of what I paid three years ago.
I also believe other makes of SSD`S provide similar cloning software.
Also you do not have to worry about which mode because its done for you by the data transfer kit.
My one advice would be to only have one partition on your HDD before you clone as separate partitions are reduced incrementally.
