my 4 year old toshiba satellite pro laptop has been damaged beyond repair but I have salvaged the hard drive and memory. given that the original laptop is non operational, is it possible to install the hard drive into another computer and boot up the OP (windows xp media edition).

No, you can plug it into another computer to pull files off of it but just plugging it into another computer will not allow you to boot from it.

Yes you can boot up XP media center properly.Just be sure you perform the OS repair using XP media center disk. That will adapt OS to your new (different) hardware and it will work properly.Only you might need to install the drivers since that hardware is different but that shouldn't be a problem at all.
