MP4 No Sound???

Hi all, i've got a movie on my laptop that I want too burn onto a DVD disc. I did so, but when I tried to play it on an outside source the movie has no sound. Also my laptop lets me play files (music, video) directly to my TV, this current file will not also play from my PC to TV, i'm gonna guess it is because there is no sound.

The file does have sound if I play from my PC and watch it. But like I stated, i'm looking to see how I can get the sound onto a disc.

Thanks In Advance.

Peace.

Did you convert the video to a DVD Format. That needs to be done before you burn it to the DVDR.

Uhhh, I think the program i'm using does it on its own. I mean the picture quality of the dvd is great, it's just that I've lost the sound to actual movie.

Any other suggestions?

P.S. I read somewhere off google search people having trouble with mp4 sound. Someone advised that converting the video works.

What are some good software for converting videos?

Also what conversion would you guys recommend? AVI, Blu-Ray, MPEG, WMV, FLV, MKV?
Which one is better?

TIA

Also can anyone explain why I'am not able to move .mkv files from my laptop to my WD Passport HDD. Error says the files are too big, but their only 9.6gb's and my HDD is a 500gb, with nothing in it at the moment.

TIA,
Peace.

it is most likely that the format of your external hdd is FAT32 which cannot store file larger than 4gb

Is there another format which would allow me to fit files bigger than 4gb? And if so, would it still then work for my PS3?

TIA.

the format that would allow larger files is NTFS but the PS3 would not be able to read that. You would have to either split the file into smaller files of 4gb or setup a media server (ie let the ps3 stream the file from your computer). As far as i know, those are the only methods to play such large movie files on the PS3.

if you are getting sound on the pc but not on an external player, it sounds like you have not used a common audio codec, when you are converting video you also have to set the correct audio codec, try converting the original file again using, format factory 2.70 its a free program and pretty good, pick your video format but before you start to convert check the audio codec is suitable a most common one is AAC
