when running msconfig / startup folder i get the following message.

an access error was returned while attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an admin account to make the specified changes.

1) i am admin
2) i have 3 other profiles with admin rights. (same problem).
3) i posted something similar a week ago. no takers. reinstalling ms Office 2003. something came up during installation. had to do with reg issues and word. needed admin rights.

Any ideas ?

the office part is not a biggie now. i needed powerpoint. i went to microsoft and installed a powerpoint reader. worked fine.

One other thing.........msconfig / startup.
after running and stating i may need admin rights and turning off what i wanted, rebooted and it was turned off. im almost thinking it has something to do Kaspersky. i havent got that far. thought i would stick my feelers out.

thanks

that's just windows assuming what the problem is, its probably nothing to do with access rights. The servcie may not be able to closed in normal mode
have you tried safe mode?

not for msconfig........
i did try to reinstall Microsoft office from safe mode. it wouldn't do it.
