MSE Better than paid?

Hi
I have read there is no need to pay for an anti virus if you have MSE since it's free and supposed is as good as the paid ones..even though it doesn't check email it is supposed to check all downloads anyway..

I have Win XP pro.....Is it better than the paid ones like Kapersky and avira?

I'm using WSE on my Windows 7 computer and so far I like it but I'm not 100% sold. I am happy to report I've not had any infections at this time, but I've only had the computer for a week. The only way to know is to do your own testing. Folks that have experience with fancy GUI's might find WSE a little less intriguing, but so far it seems to get the job done. I purposely downloaded a bad codec and the installer just failed to run so I'm not sure if that was WSE or Win7 compatibility issues doing the job lol.

Nah i dont think MSE could touch Kaspersky,Personally i think Avast Free is better that MSE :P

I think i paid something stupid like £6.99 for a years licence of Kaspersky, well worth it imo and never had any problems.

MSE is good for a free antivirus but it does lack a lot of features that an internet security suite or better yet a paid internet security suite has to offer.

Some of these features include:

anti spam
advanced firewall
anti phishing
parental controls

I think it's good for ppl who don't want to pay for antimalware protection, however, for the highest security a paid internet security suite may be better.
