MSI P6000 vs. Fujitsu i3

So, I need to buy my college-age daughter a new laptop and I don't want to pay too much - she only does basic stuff, like word processing, internet, video streaming, virtually no gaming.
Fry's has the MSI 6200 with P6000 processor for $399 (unfortunately, I don't qualify for the $50 MIR), but also a Fujitsu with i3 processor for $499. Both seem like great deals, but perhaps I am wrong?
So, my question: Is it worth $100 to get the i3, given my daughter's relatively low-level needs?
Or, perhaps there is something else entirely that we should be considering?

Not directly related to your exact question:

I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop, had it since new 4 years ago, and it has been used everyday for uni work. It is still in great shape: all keys and buttons work, mousepad is still fine, power jack is OK and battery still lasts for 1 to 1.5 hours. Its been bumped, scuffed and even dropped so I am impressed with the build quality.

Thanks, I was just looking and was unable to find. I don't care to shop at Fry's or even go there, it's a Zoo most of the time and the people working there are very unfriendly and unhelpful most of the time. Butttt for a good deal, I'd go. I'd rather go to Microcenter or shop on the net. I was trying to wait until Thanksgiving, but my daughter is on this computer more and more.
