you could try this way of getting rid of security tool, but i hope that i am not accused of trying to ruin your computer by telling you of this?? but its up to you if you wish to listen to the experts advice or whatever, and i can tell you this that security tools is a malware/trojan type and not a virus. also the reason why malwarebytes did not work correctly is because it stopped it from opening the mbam.exe, did you try renaming the mbam.exe to mbam2.exe and then try it??

A friends computer had this in it and McAfee AntiVirus, but McAfee did not see it as a virus or malicious in any way. In a normal startup it would not allow a McAfee virus scan, nor would it allow task manager to be opened, or even the registry editor.

In order to remove it from the computer:
1) Boot windows into Safe Mode (Tap F8 repeatedly before windows boots to get a list of options, use arow keys to select Safe Mode and press enter).
2) After getting into safe mode find a shortcut to the program, right click and go to properties, in the properties window click on “Open File Location”, take a note of the name of the program for later.
3) Go “up” one level so you are looking at the folder the program is in, right click on the folder and click delete.
4) Search your computer for the name of the program without the .exe (usually a random set of numbers, in my case 26440218).
5) Delete anything matching that string of numbers exactly.
6) Open the registry editor by going to run (Start>Run in XP, Start>All Programs>Acessories>Run in Vista) and type regedit.
7) Click Edit>Find and search the registry for the name of the program without the .exe (the string of random numbers), ONLY delete entries specifically matching the name of the program, once an entry is deleted there is no undo.
Search many many times and delete the specific matches to your search until you get the message “Finished searching through the registry.”
9) Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer and let it boot normally and make sure that the program is no longer there. If it is still there follow these steps again until it goes away.


NOTE: Editing your registry incorrectly can lead to your computer not working, if your computer does not work the same as it did before you had the “Security Tool” then tap F8 repeatedly before windows boots until you get to the options screen and use the arrow keys to select “Restore Last Known Good Configuration” which will restore your registry to its last known working configuration.

I have moved your problem into its own thread as trying to help 2 people in the same thread can be confusing.

You are indeed infected with a few nasties. Running Malwarebytes should clean you right up. If not, we can perform other procedures. So to start off, do this.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here, here, here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If you continue to experience problems after doing this, please post a HijackThis log by doing the following:

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

Hi Johnb35, Thanks but I ran Malwarebytes it saved the log but when i went to open malwarebytes again it wouldnt and I notice it now has a shield on it the same as vista defender pro. I have the log from Highjack this...I cant find the programe vista defender pro any ware on my computer but when i open my fire wall guess what the heading is. It has block all internet access.... Your malwarebytes is outdated, you need to update it and then run another scan. Open malwarebytes, click on the update tab, click on check for updates. Keep doing that until it says you have the latest version and then scan again. Post the new malwarebytes log and a fresh hijackthis log.
