For the last few years I have been using 2 monitors (vga-vga, DVI-vga). Last year my computer died a horrible death and I had to replace it. I ordered what I could afford, which I was told was a mini PC in a standard box. I realised once I got the box open that it only had one vga port to connect a monitor so I took it to a technician (who has now moved out of the area). He installed a second video card which has a vga and a DVI-I port. So now I have the original VGA port which works and a second VGA (which also works) with a DVI-I port.
All has been good and I have been using the 2 VGA slots with great success.
Yesterday a 3rd monitor came my way and I would like to expand my desktop by using this monitor too. I have a DVI-A to VGA adapter, which I tried unsuccessfully. The monitor also has a DVI-D port - I tried a DVI-D to DVI-D cable too, but I keep getting a 'no signal' message on the screen.
I am looking for some advice to see if there is a way to make this set up work, or whether I will need to buy more hardware. The technician I used told me that I was very restricted in what could be fitted because it was a mini-pc. So I figure I am either looking at a different cable (which I can afford) or a new machine (which I can't).
I use the machine for trading, photo-editing and watching streaming video (usually at the same time) so 3 monitors would be very useful!
Thanks for any advice you have.
