Multiplier lock

I'm wanting to get a better OC, and I'm in a dead end as the FSB is at 177.5MHz(=DDR355). I've been reading about Athlon XP processors being multiplier locked ever since week 39 year 2003. I'm one of those lucky bastards who (should) have a factory unlocked processor. Cause I bought the processor on April 30th 2003=week 17 year 2003.

The thing is, when I tried to change the multiplier from Auto, which is 11.5, to a higher multiplier it set it to 6.5 instead. Is there a solution for this?

I flashed it with a BIOS from 2004, changed the FSB to 133 and the multiplier to 12. Rebooted and it worked. However, when I checked the BIOS date in CPU-Z, it was from 04/02/01. :P Didn't flash correctly, did it.

Doesn't matter too much, as long as the multipliers work. :D Now to do some OC'ing.

EDIT:

I set the multiplier to 12.5 and the FSB to 166, which results in a 2075MHz clock. I could boot up, but when I tried running a 3DMark05 benchmark, the program crashed. Should I bump up the vcore? Cause it's still at it's stock setting.

EDIT#2:

I bumped up the Vcore by 0.025, and now it's stable. Idle 41°C. My 3DMark05 score went down from 4609 to 4514 because my FSB used to be 177MHz, now it's 166MHz.

New OC record!

Stock:
Athlon XP [email protected] Vcore: 1.6V 11.5x133MHz

OC:
Athlon XP [email protected] Vcore 1.625-1.648V 12x172MHz

And when you calculate 12x172 it's actually 2064MHz, but the PLL is a bit screwed so it's 2070MHz.

Proof and 21% load temperature. CPU-Z shows my CPU now as a 2400+ because of the multiplier. For it to show 2600+ the multiplier has to be set to 12.5/13. My 1800+ is very OC friendly. :P

It's pretty good, considering the fact that I'm using stock cooling and the voltage isn't even the 1.65V it should be to get those speeds. The Vcore is "rocking" back and forth between 1.636V and 1.648V. I'm gonna bump it up once more and up the FSB.

New OC record, again:

Stock:
Athlon XP 1800+@1533MHz Vcore: 1.6V 11.5x133MHz

OC:
Athlon XP 2700+@2130MHz Vcore: 1.65V 12x177.5MHz

A difference of 597MHz!

Proof!
