Hey :)

I play my bass guitar quite alot and i'm also trying to form a band.

I was wondering what is some really good recording and mixing software?

Also is there a program that can record someone (say me) playing my instrument but still be able to have really good sync and sound quality?

Free? Audacity for editing, remixing, effects & stuff, but I assume you're looking for something that does stuff real-time, like a digital mixerboard/recording studio...?

EDIT: Also, you're now officially one of the coolest people I know :P I play bass too
ANOTHER EDIT: AND you're from Australia. Pure WIN!

And i just got a Ibanez SR500 to play on too :D it's so FTW!!1!!

And yes i'm from Kangarooland, bouta 3 hour drive from Adelaide >_<

Also i thought at first your location read as..."Melbourne, KangarooIsland" :P

aaaaaaand yeah I'm looking for some good mixing and recording....audacity i've used before but it can be very time wasting trying to stitch those loops together >_< lol made some cool beats tho in conjunction with my ZOOOOOOM B2 pedal :D

I guess i'll have to ask 1 of my pro bass friends...

I'm using Sonar 7 Producer Edition, it's not cheap but I think it's great. There's a cheaper alternative that's supposed to be great, Reaper. There's also Cubase and Pro Tools.

For good monitoring capability while recording you should use ASIO4ALL drivers if you can't find any ASIO drivers for your sound card.
