Must have done something wrong

I just completed my second build, and I guess I did something wrong. I built the following system..

ASUS M2N32-SLI PRemium Vista Edition
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400
Corsair 2X 1GB DDR2 800
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB
Windows Vista

It should be running at a pretty good clip, but it is slower than my old AMD 2400. I keep seeing some of you posting screenshots of how your machines are doing, but I don't know the programs you use to test the system. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Either stepspeed is on, your HDD specs stink, or Vista is sucking the RAM.
