Must have software

I was just wondering what some suggestions were for the must have software. Right now the only thing that I do have that I think I should have is Windows XP Pro. :cool:
 
anti virus 2005!!(pretty important)
microsoft office!(without this that comp is not a 'comp')
spyware doctor! (a simply good software i recommmanded to scan spyware and adware)

Since comps come standard with CD burners/DVD combos nowadays...

Nero 6 Ultra edition to burn CD's
PowerDVD (Latest) to watch DVD's
 
A text editor (VIM), a browser (Opera/Firefox), and an e-mail client (Mutt) are all my "must haves". Everything else is a bonus :)
 
Avast anti-virus, Sygate firewall, Firefox with a copy of IE hidden somewhere, 2000 Pro or XP Pro, Ad-aware SE, Spybot, Quicktime if you do video with a camera, some kind of system monitoring program like Asus pc probe or SiSoftware Sandra.
