my 7300gt doesn't work no more!

hey guys today i bought some thermal compound and i applied it to my cpu. i just wasn't staisfied so my foolish self applied some on my ideo card and its heatsink. Now when i put it in ym comp no video! i put a different ideo card to make sure that the mobo and cpu is working. the video card is the problem.
i was pretty sure that i was staticly discharged. or was it cause i used cotton swabs to clean up the chip? help me!
 
1st, how old are you.

2nd... why did you put thermal grease on the hs for the video card? it doesn't need more.
 
You probably used a metallic based thermal compound, which shorted something out since it is slightly capicative. Thats why if you absolutely need to change out the thermal paste on your gpu you use Ceramique.
 
im 14, i really need to get this video card working. the one i have currently inside my htpc is very loud, i already cleaned the thermal compound off everything and tried it again, and same results :[ is there any way i can fix it? help me
