My Birthday is coming up...

So, I thought using the money I'll build myself a decent computer for gaming, I'm guessing I'll have around $600 total, I'll need everything including OS I prefer XP over Vista by far, I'm not sure if this is enough for everything, but I'll probably have a bit more than that, so I'd say cap it (not including shipping) at $700

I was wondering if this Graphics card would be fine

thanks for any help!

Once you get past the card things like a good board, cpu, memory, etc. will run a higher toll for any high end gaming system. A good case and supply have to be weighed in. Surprisingly Vista hasn't been any big let down gaming wise from what I've been hearing lately.

An oem for XP runs nearly as high as Vista at this time since MS is lowering the prices. XP with SP2 is seen for $89.99 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116056

Vista Home Premium oem(branded but usable) is seen for $5 more at http://www.viosoftware.com/Windows+Vista+Premium+PG/Windows+Vista+Home+Premium+OEM+DVD+%28Branded%29.html

nah I have no need for it to be high end, I'm not super picky on how good the game actually looks, and I don't really have a need to play anything like crysis, and I forgot to say I needed everything but a case! sorry about that, thanks

I'd rather get 9600GT with E4600

Jesse, thanks! that looks great, I may just stick with that one, I'll go with the 8800gts, my parents said they'd give me all the extra money I needed as long as It's not over $200 they have to give me, because it's for college right? ;)

do you plan on overclocking? or no how to? cause the CPU jesse mentioned he said oced just wondering if thats what your going to do because you will need a better cooling fan. might be easier to buy one thats alrady pretty high.

I don't know how to overclock right now, but I am very interested in it, and I read the reviews on it, and the people said they were able to OC it to 3.0ghz with stock coolers, and how's the 8800gts in my first post?

The 8800GTS is fine... just don't expect to play Crysis on maxed settings XD. I wouldn't recommend OC'ing the e2160 with the stock coolers by much. Also, go for the OC... it's actually quite easy.

hey thanks guys! you guys really are a lot of help march 22 and I should have all my cash, and I'll be all set to buy!

Oh, and I'm not a big Crysis fan, a bit overrated if you ask me as long as I can play Starcraft on max....Just kidding:D

oh and this is a huge, huge noob question, with two DVI ports I can use two monitors right?
