my bittorrent is running slower than mollasses

at the most my d-load speed is 4kb/s

how can i speed it up?

i have peerguardian, mcaffee firewall, i believe windows firewall is disabeled, and am behind a dynex router

how can i speed it up?

also, i have cable internet, so it is not like i cannot get faster speeds
 
For Bittorrent the speed of your download depends on the seeders: how much upload they have and how many seeders there actually are. If the torrent you are downloading has more leechers than seeders its going to go slower. Another reason your download speed might be slow is because either you or the seeder are being blocked by your respective firewalls. Make sure to have ports open on your firewall so that your bittorrent client gets unrestricted access to the seeder(s). This can usually be seen on most clients by a green dot. A yellow dot means that the firewall is in the way.
 
Ports 6881-6889 are the default ports for bittorrent clients. You can use these at first, but some ISP's block these ports so you might have to pick some different ones.
 
so i have freeed up port 10000, and have utorrent and it does not say that the port has been forwaded? how can i get it to forward, it is configured in my router and mcaffee
 
if it's configured in your router Utorrent will show a green sign
check the link i posted above to make sure you got the configuration right
 
so i figured out one of the problems

i forgot that in my room i have another router from the dynex one

i connected directly through the dynex, and once this afternoon i got 250kb/s

but usually get round 20, how can i speed it up???
 
what speed is ur cable internet? do u know the d/l and u/l speeds?

if ur choose the wrong speeds, it could add up to u getting the speeds u did. plus, make sure you are allowing enough u/l speed to get a good d/l speed too.

also, like said above, it depends on the seeders and leechers. you should always want as much seeders as possible. make sure your firewall is allowing in and outbound connection to your torrent programs and just not letting it get outbound connections..

another thing u can look into is the time of day. more people are usually on during the day and less at night. this can be a good thing or bad since it could be the seeders or the leechers. try it during different times of the day like morning, afternoon, evening.. I usually get better speeds during the evening because I stay up pretty late.. most people dont and for those that leave their torrents on overnight, that's ok cuz they'll be seeding too.

I don't know too much about bittorrent but in bitcomet upload speed are proportional to download speeds. So if you have max U/L speed set to 5kb/s it will not allow you to download as fast as if it were set to 50kb/s. I think bittorrent you set what your connection type is and it does it automatically, so you should make sure it set at or a little higher than what your connection type is.
