My cable Internet is slow and keeps Disconnecting

I have a motorola SB5120 SurfBoard cable modem and when im using it. it Either goes veryvery slow or disconnects. How can i fix it? Would u recommend that i call the company and make a complaint? would they be able 2 fix it? or is it my computer thats the problem? and it used to go fast but now its slow someone help me thanks!
 
turn off your modem and computer for 15 minutes, this will reset the modem and your computer, then try to reconnect.
If that does not work...check to see wether you have any "splitter" in your house....
It is always a good idea to call the company...
 
Also, ask the company if they are using a newer modem than the one you have currently and if you can trade the modem in for a newer model for free, and the newest version of the service software.

(example: I have Road Runner cable internet, I can drive to their city office hq, Identify myself as a customer, and trade in my old modem (with the AC power plug) for the newest model, as well as get the newest service software CD.......all for free.)

(they should let you keep the older CD software and ethernet cables) Although new cables come with a new modem, of course......so in effect free extra cables! :) ;)

If they charge you for anything, then they are not a very good service.

If you are connected to the modem via a USB cord (technically an A-B USB cord), then you should install the USB drivers that come with the service (should be a CD in the box they gave you.)

Do i just turn the modem of 2 standby or do i disconnect it all and including the computer.
 
Turn off your computer. Disconnect the modem from the electrical outlet, as well as any plugs. Wait a little over 10 minutes. Then plug everything back in
 
Ok i called my cable internet company and they gave me a number 2 call.... and i called them and the person told me that ther is 2 much spyware on my computer and 2 get rid of it, and to take my computer 2 a computer technition 2 get it cleaned. Is that wat makes the internet slow? 2 much spyware?
