My CD player wont play!! help!!

Hi guys.

When I put in a CD to be played on my computer, nothing happens, i am not asked what to do with the cd and it doesnt register that there is a cd in the player on I TUNES or Windows Media Player.

I have just installed the latest I Tunes.

Please help!!

Does the cdrom show up in "my computer"?

i dont think so

at the top it shows "Hard Disk Drives (2)"

then all that comes up is: OS (C: ) (then shows how much is in the hard drive.)

and then HP_RECOVERY (D: ) then it shows: 2.00 GB free of 16.4 GB

No (E: ) drive at all

Look in device manager and look under dvd/cdrom drives. Is there an entry with a yellow question mark on it? If so, then most likely you have a corrupt registry setting. Try running one of these fix it programs.

there is no yellow but this is what it said:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

ok i had this problem and tried all the known technics to get it to appear in my computer most likely issue is these dont work is part of your Cd-Rom has died you can take it to a good computer repair shop or just buy a new Cd-Rom. but this may not be the problem
if not i have no idea
