My computer, and questions I have

I've had a new computer since about... december or january, and recently in march I purchased a new video card. Installed it alright, and everything was fine and dandy, but recently, though im not sure if its due to having alot of programs running, when a program runs at 100%, especially a game like Half Life 2 or Doom III, the fan will pick up speed. My friend says not to worry, since 1) its summer, 2) its a natural thing the computer does to cool down the internal system.

I have 512 mb ram, 2.93ghz celeron d processor, and the video card is a PCI 128 mb Ge Force Fx 5500...if im not mistaken.

Strangely, this stuff happened sometime after i was hacked through CS 1.6, and as I said before, I dont know if anything is causing this...but apparently, when im running at 100% constantly for a period of time, the fan will pick up, and cool it down...eventually it'll cool down, but then it'll turn on again after 5 or so minutes, to maintain a "cool" temperature in the system?
 
Yes this is common and nothing to worry about, it is simply the CPU attemptng to cool itself down using the HSF. It has nothing to do with being hacked, it is a good thing to happen not a bad thing. :)
 
Thanks so very much ^^ I just got done installing updated drivers for my video card....it seems your video card is a little under mine? Do you play any certain games? Or are you naturally just a wiz, helping out people so graciously ^^''?
 
LOL, i have a limited knowledge that i apply to most situations in the same way. Yeh, my FX5200, its ok, not the greates but it does what i need it to. I usually play Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004, my favourites. I used to play thigns like The Sims ans Sims 2 but they got boring very quickly. I used to play Age of Empires a lot but thats got shoved to the back of the shelf aswell. LOL
 
I remember when I played AOE2, I repeatedly stopped and quit...i mean...i always stopped when I was grook/intermediate lol because I had low self esteem if you know what I mean XD
