Well today i just reformatted my pc. I was putting a load of my albums back on my pc from a data cd i had made before. Automatically my pc just restarted. And from now on when i put it up, it seems to load up up till when my desktop is about to come up. From then it jsut keeps on restarting. I have done things like PRESS F8 and try doing my most recent settings and ive even tryed going in safe mode. Can someone please tell me what may be causing this and what i can do to fix it.

Thanks

I think try reinstalling your OS. As soon you turn the computer on put in your OS cd and reinstall

Plz reply to me too

right-click my computer>advanced>startup and recovery settings> then uncheck the box labeled "automatically restart" under the "system failure" area...next time it happens you should get a BSOD(blue screen of death) and i would write down the information on there, or at least some of it...then google that info and see what you find, and of course posted it here...i fought a similar thing forever...i thought it was bad RAM, thought it was my CPU overheating, thought it was everything but what it was......mouse drivers.

Little Hoov i cant do that because it dont even let me get to that bit, before my desktop loads it just restarts.

20 gig, if i re install my OS that means i will lose everything on my pc doesnt it?

oh...well that sucks..mine gave me like 5 seconds of desktop time before it restarted, so you could do that, you just had to be fast at it..and you said you cannot boot in safe mode right? if you cant boot in safe mode i suppose the best thing to do would be to hook up your hard-drive as a slave to another machine and get everything you can off it, then reformat..did you put any drivers on your machine that you had not had on there before? or did you upgrade your version of windows at all?

All i did was, reformat, installed a few programs, put quite alot of albums on from cd. no hardware was installed.

any new programs? this sounds like some sort of program/driver issue type thing....but you should definetely be able to save all your music, if you have access to another machine that is, so you wont have to copy those all over again.

If you reformatted and installed/copied stuff from CD, you still have all the data on your hard drive but it is in CD form, all you will actually lose is the time invested.
Good Luck

Even in safe mode? If so, yer prolly best off reformatting

Have a look at the memory test (also at voltage stability)

well it might but i took the risk and my system was just fine

download knoppix, burn the iso to a cd, then boot it up, and put any stuff u need on a usb memory stick or if you have 2 cd drives, use the extra one.

knoppix is a livecd distro of linux, you can axcess the harddrive and get anystuff you need off it, then reformat the computer.
