If you're running XP and 128mb then your problem could be a lack of Physcial Memory, or RAM, download a utility called CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com and take screenshots of all the tabs to tell us more please:)

i know that i have 128mb ram and am running xp pro

you definetely need more RAM, I'd suggest upgrading that to atleast 512 MB.

Also what kind of processor do you have?
(to find this out, click start, right click my computer, and go to properties. It should list the processor near the bottom of the System Properties window.

hope this helps :)

Try changing your Windows theme to the Windows Classic theme. The problem is your RAM or Virtual Memory is so small that it can barely run XP alone. After confirming your memory type try an eBay search. I got some SDRAM
for only $10 for 256MB. Memory is mostly SDRAM but still check on the side of your PC to double check. Also CPU-Z should show you your memory type.

all ive got is xp pro

is there any way to update to sp2?

Hi dude, shawn_selig29 meant applications running in the background like antivirus smart scanning, antivirus usually have this feature, it automatically scan files even though you didnt ordered it to scan, another thing be careful when installing downloaded files from the internet, some files automatically install mini applications like google toolbar that can add up to your system processes. Also try to lessen applications running during startup including your antivirus cause starting apps like this takes to much resources from your computer specifically the amount of RAM you've got, and it is not the only thing that windows xp loads during startup, try to load your antivirus manually to speed up your startup.

To update the current service pack of your Windows XP check out http://www.microsoft.com/ and search for Service Pack 2.
