Ok, so i was updating WoW and all was working well. But i went upstairs and when i came back down my pc was off. So i turned it back on and nothign would appear on the screen :S It jsut kept on doing 1 Long beep 2 Short beeps. Ok so i sort of have an idea that it means that my RAM or Video card is f*cked up but im not 100% sure. I unscrewed it and looked inside... nothing looked like it was out of place. So i tried removing the RAM to see if it did anything, still the same beeps so i figure its not the ram. My motherboard is a Asus and my video card is an ATI i think. Views and any possible solutions? Thanks a million in advanced :)

Yes it is a video error code... would help though if we knew what series of MB it is... if it has onboard video etc.. could be anything from vid card fault to if onboard the BIOS lost the primary display.

Yeah, that sounds like the no-video beep. Try removing the card, turn it on then back off, then reinsert the card and try again. That actually fixed a computer I was working on once :P

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest trying the card in another computer and/or trying another card in that computer.

Ok thanks a lot. Ill try removing the video card and re insterting it. Keep on posting answers though! id still like to see some more opinions :)

Ok so i tried removing the video card... same beep
I removed the ram again... same beep
Im totally confused i dont know what the hell is wrong with it. I dont want to take apart this computer im scared i might screw up so just in case i wont.

More answers!!!

Removed and reseated everything, right? :o If so, I'm pretty certain it's video related so you shouldn't need to go too deep. Can you try my other suggestion? Another GPU or that GPU in another computer?

I tried the grafics card from this pc in my other one.... no luck. I tried another RAM unit.... still no luck :( i fear its the motherboard thats f*cking up

Hey boys the GPU doesnt seem to be an issue or the Ram. Did you try the power supply?? thats about the only other reason a computer would beep at you... Thanks to trouble shooting for dummies. Although I did just think of something If the power supply supply is good... Maybe the computer is over heating any chance of abnormal temps?? computers sometimes go awal for no apparent reason.

Its not the power supply, and its not over heating. Im afraid im gonna have to take it in to the stores. Ironicly in about 4 years i would know how to fix this when i finish studying to be a pc tech :P

It does seem rather odd you're getting no-video beep codes yet the video cards appear to be fine... And when you say it's not the PSU, I assume you've tried another known working PSU in the computer?

Also, what kind of video cards are we talking about here? PCI, AGP, PCI-Express. Mostly, I'm just curious if you have something like a PCI GPU you could try in there.

BTW, don't expect to go to a university and learn how to solve problems like this. Most everything you'll learn there is programing.

Looks like I won't go study to be a tech, maybe a hardware engineer :D I just don't see myself typing out codes and creating/fixing programs for a living. Although that's what both my parents are doing right now :o
