My computers performance sux!

As the title states. I cant run any new games without major lag and general messedupness.

CPU: Celeron 2.50 GHz
RAM: 224
Graphics: S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR uhm...32MB i think.

Got XP installed on it.

So...well, I cant run any games with good performance. Wolf - ET, i cant keep it stable over 20 fps without tuning all graphic settings down to minimum...
FIFA 2005 is one big lag, and the graphics is totally messed up.

Got ADSL connection

Got the latest drivers for graphics card + directx 9.0 installed.

I would like to uninstall windows and delete everything on it, and start over, but I cant uninstall windows. It says that its not properly registered. Dunno why. Anybody know how I can get rid of windows? Or if I can install windows again and tell it to delete everything on the computer?

Any answers appreciated.

uninstall windows and delete everything on it

Not sure what your meaning here but you cannot uninstal windows in the same way you'd uninstal a program within the windows enviroment.. Uninstalling windows would be to format your hard drive.

Take your windows CD and stick er in and reboot and if the instal doesn't start then reboot again and enter bios and set your cd-rom as the first boot device and you should be on your way to a fresh instal.. as for the steps involved you might want to either read up on it or wing it as it's fairly straight forward but may take some time reading the diff. menus and options on the instal if you are new :-)..

Also just curious but did those games run better on your machine at one point or another? because your Mem is somewhat low and so is your graphics..

you really should try removing all spyware and such before reinstalling the os and check for virus's and such.. clear your prefetch folder and temp files and do a scandisk and defrag and all that good stuff.

The problem is [a] onboard graphics and bad onboard graphics. The fact that you only hads 256MB of RAM to start doesnt help the issue :)

The DX9 wont matter because your video unit wont ever make use of anything even remotely close to it :(

You dont "uninstall" an OS. You can format or overwrite (by booting up off the OS CD)

Your best bet is to try and get a discrete video card (prolly only PCI but its better than what youve got) :)

Yeah.... It's your RAM and graphics card mate. There old, and should be updated. I recommend a GeForce MX440 TV OUT AGP for the cheap side of gaming (also, you need an AGP slot on your mobo for that card).

For AGP the GFX5200-256 is a better choice for damn near the same price (in most cases). Same for PCI actually :)

This is your problem.

Celeron = Pentium 4 thrown against the wall
RAM = Upgrade to at least 512 megs. I'd add another 32mb because it appears you're sharing it with your graphics which is probably integrated to the motherboard.
Graphics = generic. Get a nice Nvidia graphics card with 128mb or more on it.

Or instead get a Radeon 9800 edition graphics card, 512mb ram oh n definately get a motherboard that can hold an Amd Athlon 64 processor (they kick ass!!).

Otherwise format pc and start again!! n get more memory n better graphics card

Not everyone can afford a Pentium4.

I know! just look at my setup! :D Of course I didn't start out with a Duron just because of cost, I was also trying to keep power consumption down. Now That i've discovered the 45 watt mobile athlon xp I will invest in the upgrade. :)

Mobile Winchester-derivatives might be able to push down to 60W ... which is a shockingly low number for that kinda power :)

yah.. Obviously with my kind of rig I have to keep power consumpltion low as well as heat production. I was hoping a motherboard manufactuer would make an AMD based mini-itx motherboard with an nForce2 or so Chipset but then never did so I had to go full size on the motherboard.

Understood... i dont think it gets much better than Centrino2004 but for AMDs route i think the Mobile Athlon64s do a superb job :)

Yer thats true :o

As everyones said here...Graphics card...and well if you got graphics you wouldn't need RAM just at the moment I mean when playing big large games it takes forever for them to load up, and when they do it can be jumpy because it constantly loads :o but meh! you should really take the strain off the RAM by getting a Graphics card
