So I just recently upgraded from my AMD 9500 to a e8400 and boy am I happy that I did. I'm not much of an overclocker and don't ever plan on it, this things is blazing fast stock. But I was bored last night and i over clocked it.

I got this thing to 3.6 with stock volts and didnt raise the temp at all in about 5 seconds.

I bumped the volts up by about .20 and got it to 3.8.

I am in total amazement as to how well this thing performs. I wonder how far i could take it.

yea i didnt need help with anything, im just saying this to help all those people looking for new cpus. or just sharing my experiences.

thats why im going from AMD to Intel
im only getting the E2180 but people having been clocking it to over 3ghz with no heat issues whatsoever!!!!!! whereas my AMD runs heaty at stock let alone overclocked so till AMD sort out thier processors im ssticking with intel

yea. actually my phenom was about 21C on idle. which is quite amazing actually. its a good processor for multitasking. but i only play games so this this smokes it.

The E8400 is arguably the best non-Extreme Edition processor on the market. You definitely made the right switch. ;)

21C on the stock cooler? That is amazing, I should check to see what mines at. The phenom is definately a nice processor for multitasking, I'm not huge on the games so its perfect for me.

This is exactly why my next build/laptop will have an Intel. AMD has been sucking buttocks lately.

Take in mind that many E8400 owners were experiencing weird/unusual temperatures. So your "low" temperatures may indeed be quite high.

the temperatures i was talking about my was my Phenom. I dont care what my e8400 is at, i know its screwed so i dont bother looking.
