My CPU temp OK to OC?

I have a new X2 3800+, and was thinking of overclocking. Right now I have been running Prime 95, one instance per core, with my CPU at 100%, for about an hour now, and it has not gone above 52 C, but it is hovering around 51 C. Is this an alright temp for an X2 3800+? Can I OC?

I would say that it is a little high for overclocking, but there are ways of lowering the temperature, by using Arctic Silver 5, or by purchasing an aftermarket CPU cooler.

But is an alright temp on its own?

Not especially, my 3200+ (the same thing with one core) on stock cooler only gets to about 41 at full load on a hot day... a dual core will get a couple degrees warmer, but it shouldnt be that hot.

Well then, I am getting a Zalman CNPS9500 and am removing my bay door.

make sure you get a couple cans of compressed air and some ear plugs

if you leave the door off itll get dusty in there and wear down the components. i have filters on my P180B and after a week i was having dust collected so be prepared

Well, either way I just realized Artic Silver 7 is a thermal adhesive, I want 5, it is the grease. And I realized since I have an 80mm intake fan on the door that removing it would do more harm then good. I just cant realize why it is hotter then it should be, my case isnt cramped and has a 120mm front intake, an 80mm side intake, and a 120mm rear exhaust.

well... i used a Freezer 64, and when i putted the CNPS9500 on, it lowered the temp of my 3000+ by another 12 degrees... so im quite convinced it will help a lot :)
however... take your time to put it on propperly, its not something you want to rush :o
