My DVD burner refuses to burn to a DVD

I just got my PS3 about a week ago and have been trying to burn some music/videos/pictures to a DVD for a long time. Whenever I tell either the D: or Windows Media Player to burn the disc, it either says that the disc is full or not writable, I know for a fact that it is 100% empty. Alcohol 120% says that it's writable, but it only burns isos(I think) So I can't burn it with that. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Okay, I figured out that it'd be REALLY easy if I could somehow make the files that I want to put onto my PS3 into an ISO, can you do that with Alchohol 120%?

the windows cd burning service is probably damaged or turned off
alcohol uses it's own service, which is why it still works

you could use a disc image program like winiso/ultraiso to create image files to burn, or you could download the trial of nero and see if that works
