I have already upped my budget and this is the maximum i can spend..is this ok, or even any way of lowering the price without lowering performance. It will be used for streaming films and casual gaming.

Sea gate Barracuda 320gb HDD

And finally i am undecided as to whether to opt for windows 7 or 8, which do you recommend?

This all comes to about £500, i cannot go any higher.

Thanks!

Good specs generally. HDD is a little small but will suffice. I'd probably look into another GPU if you plan on any gaming. That's a pretty low-end card. I'm not as familiar with the 630 but if you plan on doing any gaming, I'd at least step up to the GT 640. Or even hold off and use onboard for the time being...

Also, the case will work but I'd consider stepping that up a bit. Some of these inexpensive cases are very flimsy with terrible case flex. I've even seen some where the holes were bored out incorrectly so the board wouldn't even mount correctly.

As for Windows 7 or 8, I'd personally stick with Windows 7. Windows 8 has some great benefits, but I still feel it has too many quirks, along with the terrible UI (unless you get a touch screen).

Thanks alot for the advice..i think i will upgrade to the gt640, if it makes the difference then it'll be worth it! And ill also have another look for a case.
Thanks again!

As claptoman said, get a i3 on that budget and a GT 650. Go ahead and get a different case, that case is cheap for a reason. Go with Windows 8. I like the metro UI, and even if you don't like it, you can make it like W7. W8 has all the new features and better security, so go with W8.

W7 vs W8 debate inbound. Honestly play around with both and figure out which one you like better. Either would be a good choice.

Id get the 2500K over the 3470 any day. The 2500K is nearly as fast as a 2600K and will belt the 3470 aroud the head. The 3470 cannot really be overclocked at all. Worth the 20 quid.

Get this RAM which is cheaper. 1 x 8GB is a better idea. Plus its cheaper.

I actually also think you are wasting your money on the GT 630 as it will be about the same power as the integrated GPUs on either CPU. Assuming you keep the motherboard, you'll never use SLI, so whatever graphics card you choose, just know that. You may want to get an AMD graphics card instead. Budget 1 is make the changes below, but ammend it by spending the extra 40 quid two ways 20 quid extra on the PSU and 20 quid on the GPU. Or my choice...

Extra 20 for the 2500K
Less 5 quid for the RAM, 1 8GB, allows for more expansion
Less 50 quid for GPU (use CPU integrated graphics)
Get the CX430W psu, less 12 quid - the nice thing about this psu is that it has 32A on the 12V rail continuous. Plenty of head room for a future mid to upper range GPU.

Spend remaining part of your budget - 40 quid on the case or an aftermarket CPU cooler. Type the number 47 in the bios. Restart, you have a 2600K. Even the built-in bios turbo mode. It will be your best bang for buck. Still one of the fastest (second i think).

The 2500K will play BF3 at low to medium settings at 1080p.

Okeydokey was referring to overclocking the 2500K, but be aware though that you'll need aftermarket cooling for that.

Thanks for the help! Ill get that set up done and when i can afford to, which shouldt be too long...ill purchase one of those two gpu.
