My First Build Questions!

hey, hey!

i'm making a custom that i hope to last me for atleast 2-3 years.

i'm building it around a core 2 quad q6600 that i was not using.

i'm planning on buying these items so far, and wanted your opinion!

EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked 768MB 192-bit

ASUS NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

and 8 gigs of Corsair DDR2 800

(haven't decided on case/cooling yet)

my main concern was if it was going to be cost effective or if i should save up for an i7. a good case on newegg plus the items mentioned above looks to be about 450-500 dollars.



games i play:

cs: source
WoW
Crysis
bad company 2
might get the new medal of honor or CoD game.

Crysis, best game imo. Change your ram to a 6Gb DDR3

i can't actually. the nForce only accepts ddr2. it's also the only core 2 quad i could find that's sli-certified.

Don't buy into socket 775 it is EOL. LGA1156 or AM3, so Phenom II X4 955/i5 760/i7 860

get an amd processor because the last just as long but cost way less. i have a 4 yr old dual core still running great

Processors run for many years, I believe they are rated for 30 years at stock settings.
