Tell Me what you all think!:D

Have you got links for them....???

And you won't need a 1000W PSU! (Power Supply)

What hard drive are you getting?

He obviously wants them. All of his components are "nice", I see nothing wrong with that.

I never said there was anything "wrong" with it i asked if it was "necessary". if he wants them thats fine i dont have a problem with that.

In my opinion, to have an excellent gaming system, capable of playing any game out there today well...exactly ZERO of his components are needed, and he doesn't need to spend near that amount of money.

But that's not the point...they sell those kinds of components for a reason. Just because someone wants to spend more money than is needed for nearly the same realistic results in games, doesn't mean it is a bad thing. Personally I would never do it, but for some people it's a hobby like any other.

If he all of a sudden wants a price/performance, nice gaming rig...I'll be one of the first to give my input. But he obviously wants the above components...I doubt he HASN'T seen the pricetags yet.

well heres something. long after all of us have spent another 1k upgrading our computers his will STILL be as strong as ours. its what people call future-proofing, and it definitely applies here.

as for the 1000W psu he may not need the wattage but to run a 9800GX2 takes a six-pin connector and an eight-pin connector. thats four pci-e connectors that are needed, and usually only very high wattage psu's have enough.

Future Proofing? I am now see it as a joke.
with new GPU come up every 3-6 months...
intel going to have new CPU with new socket...
I personally don't see the point.

See, me personally, I'm actually building a system with I believe, the same motherboard, chip, but better RAM. Personally, I don't mind paying more for the brands I trust. If I just so happen to trust the cheaper brands with everything I've got, I always buy from them. All comes down to preference, really. My system all-in-all will be about $2000, including 24in LCD, EVGA 8800GT, Intel Q9450, 8GB of RAM, and every other necessary component. (I'm not migrating anything from my previous system, save the power supply that's somewhat newer).

Do I really want to spend $2000 on the whole system? Probably not, but am I willing to do so to do what lovely calls "future-proofing"? You betcha.

Now, whether I think any person should have to take the hit to their wallet to buy two 9800 GX2's? Definitely not. I'd personally rather Tri-SLI 8800 GT's, than shell out almost $1000 alone, on two cards. Kinda seems ridiculous, really. The reason I'd go for the Tri'd 8800's, is because most games these days that actually utilize SLI, are capable of running Tri, if not out of the box, with a bit of tweaking. ;)

Couldn't agree more. As you all have seen, technology moves fast. Last year, there were no such things as Quads... before that, no Duals...

In a few months it will no longer be a "great" system.

From my point of view, you get a computer that's cheap and sufficient for what you do, and no more. Anything else is just a waste of money. I don't see any game that will require 2x 9800GX2s. By the time a game is developed that CAN use all that speed, prices will have most likely dropped drastically...

But to each his own...

I guess you could say "future proofing" I am into web development, game development and of course I will be playing a lot of games. I really dont think this pc will be considered "old hardware" within months. Look how long the 8800 series lasted. I think the 9800 gx2's will last longer. Of course I have seen the price tag, I have already bought everything. All of this should be in by the end of this week. Thanks for the comments.

Oh my god guys, don't be envious like that ;)

I know it's a bit of an "overkill" but if he has the money, what's the problem? It's not like he's gonna have to upgrade in the next three months.

You guys more than anyone know that this is a kick-ass rig, it's not a waste of money like some of you say, it will handle any game up to date.

And good luck with the build :)

may i suggest buying only one 9800GX2 and waiting for the pricedrop on your second one? other than that,YOU'RE LUCKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY but nice parts :)
