Ok,,so I got out my GA7va triton 400 motherboard manual and decided to overclock this 2004 machine.I am using a amd xp1800 Processor with 2.5 gb ram

Started out running at
1.54

Bump stuff up in small quantities and toyed with it a bit.

Here is where I am at according to PC Wizard Tell me where you guys thing I should be.

Processor 1781.02 MHZ
Voltage CPU 1.78v
DIMM 1.36v
3.3v voltage 3.30
+5 Voltage 4.85 V
12v voltage 12.85 V

Even under a heavy load with a video in the background playing,a program downloading and a AVast doing a virus scan its not getting any hotter than 34 and seems to be running stable.I can tell programs are responding much faster.

How did I do?

I bumped the voltage up just a tad on the processor and I am getting

1838.74 mhz on the CPU
Cpu voltage spikes at 1.91 while I am transferring a video file from one drive to the next.

I tried bumping it up all the way and started getting lock ups when trying to transfer data.

Does it look like I have reached about maximum now?

Seems plenty stable and the CPU is still cool.

For such an old CPU that's not a bad overclock, you've probably hit the roof as those old machines aren't like the new Core CPU's (mine started at 1.86GHz). In fact I remember my dad's old Mesh was terrible at overclocking, it had very rigid settings.

Yeah, thats a pretty solid OC for that CPU. Its nice that you can see the difference in performance between pre- and post- overclock.

it's not all about the temps, your cpu can be at 30 degrees celcius and still burn out because you've got such a high voltage. I strongly suggest not going above 1.7 volts.

It's an old CPU, they can take a bit higher voltages. For what I know, athlon XPs have a stock vcore of 1.75. I've heard people taking those things up to 1.85, but crashing after long periods of heavy use.
