My great computer that lags.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I made this thread to find out why my computer gets any lag. I know it seems a bit ridiculous, but I become angry when I drop to around 30 fps or lower. I have an i7 950 3.07ghz with a nVidia GTX560Ti. I would think I could run anything on max at 1680x1050 , but for some reason I can't. For example, APB I can't run without running down to 30 fps around smoke and constant frame spikes. I was wondering if there's something wrong with my computer, or if my parts need to be better. My friend with a gtx460 and worse processor is somehow able to run the same game at a static 60 fps.

are your drives up to date? seems like the most likely thing, go to the nvidia website and there will be a link for drivers near the top of the page.

Most likely the issue is the crappy OEM power supply. Doubt if its strong enough to push the video card. Open the case and find the sticker, list what the amps are for the 12 volt rail or give us the model number of the power supply.

Well it has 4 rails at 18 amps each with a total of only 648 watts on the 12 volt rail. Can you try a different psu?

Uh, I mean I guess I could go try and buy a new one. But is that the culprit? Otherwise, no, I don't have any access to another free psu.

I don't know what this means, I'm not too computer savvy. Also, I don't know anybody who I could borrow a power supply from.

sorry mate! i mean the brand and model of your Motherboard. and the Capacity of your RAM,.it affects the overall performance of your PC even you have intel i7. if your RAM is LOW it is still slow on Performance specially gaming features

its seems you MotherBoard and Ram is not the Problem, and maybe the PSU?so can you try change your PSU borrow from your friend a good one PSU of course. if you are in gaming you open so many Tabs and programs? this one share the system resources also.

how about back up your files and deep reprogram your system.

regards
