My HP Envy hinges tightened up destroying the case halves, need a replacement without hinge issues

Hello,
I joined this forum after going round and round with HP, the hinges on my Envy 15-j0011dx destroyed the case halves pulling the knurled pieces of brass threaded inserts out. I have repaired the computer with a screw, washers, nyloc nut, and some epoxy. I loosened up the pre-tension on the hinges to hopefully make it last until I can afford a new one. I plan to purchase one this fall and I would like to start researching and figure out what to buy when the times comes. Hopefully it can wait for the fall but if the repair goes down hill I might need to buy one asap. I would like to keep the price below $1000 with a 15" screen and a minimum of an i5 processor, I have a SSD already and plan to max out the RAM on whatever I buy. I am not looking for a complete specification breakdown just what brand / series laptops seem to have hinges / case halves that will not fail. After reading other forums I have noted that the Dell Latitude (very much in my budget range) and the Lenovo Thinkpad are known for a robust design. I have also heard that the HP Elitebooks do as well (although they are priced a little high). Any other suggestions? I want to stay away from Apple as well. Thank you in advance for all of the help / advice.
 
HP's design sucks. Their Elitebooks are alright but I'd get a Latitude or Thinkpad over them any day of the week.

I kinda hate HP.
 
Thanks for the quick response! I really like the pricing of the Latitude and when I search for hinge issues with them not much of anything seems to show up which is encouraging.
 
In terms of the Thinkpad hinge / case reliability, how would you rate the E,L,and T series? Edit: Meaning are they all of equal build quality or the higher you go up the list the better build quality.
 
The more expensive ones are naturally gonna be better, T's I know from personal experience are super tough.

I don't think I've ever seen a Latitude with a broken hinge that hadn't clearly suffered severe blunt force trauma and usually they were older models too. I worked in a repair shop for close to 2 years and saw a lot of bad hinges, almost all of them were HPs or Toshibas.

Personally I'd get a Latitude.
 
Thanks for the advice, I do not have the experience with various laptop brands / models as I have only owned a low end Toshiba and the Envy. I was hoping to get an expert opinion, I really appreciate it.
