My Internet is messed. HELP

hey, sup guys.

I am connected to the internet via a proxim wireless, which recieves signals from the room next to mine. It is suppose to be really fast, cable-speed i believe, but the signal strength is constantly POOR, and it took me almost 3 minutes just to load this page. Also, the signal strength fluctuates alot, going up and down several times per minute, making surfing the web almost impossible. (I had to try for an hour just to get this post on)

If anybody can give me a hand, it would be greatly appreciated.

I had similar issues with my own wireless, 2-computer network. I never really resolved it, but I suspect it was due in part to using old wireless-b technology. You might be receiving interference from other networks in the neighborhood. I've also been reading that certain types of steel in walls/floors can block a wireless signal in newer homes.

First of all try switching your network over to a different channel, there are 8 of them to choose from, first of all change it in the router and then adjust the settings in each PC to correspond. Then (if you can) physically move you PC to a closer position to the router. Perhaps you could switch to a wired connectin, it would be a constant 100Mbps link. Do some research into high-gain antennas, maybe a wise investment for your PC and not too expensive either.
