My laptop connected to my TV

Maybe I'm expecting too much, but I have an HP 6730b laptop, when I connect it through it's S video cable to my 50'' LCD TV, it works ok, but there are some horizontal lines that run through the picture.

Is there a better way to do this from this laptop? Or do I have to just live with it?

why dont you try to hook it up with a vga cable? do you have a vga out on your lap top? if so use that. if not and s video is all you have then your stuck with it. s video is pretty bad.
