My Laptop to a Television

Hi!

My HDX16T has a Nividia GeForce 9600m GT card. On the side is a VGA, Expansion Slot 3, HDMI, USB and 1394 slot.

My Home Theater Reciever will only accept HDMI and when it does, it will default to HDMI out to the TV.

Problem is my TV has S Video IN, Component Video In and RCA Video In and NO HDMI.

I am forgetting the reciever and tried going directly to the TV.

I tried a VGA to Component adapter (red, green., Blue) but got no picture. Tried to configure thru Nivida Control Panel and through Display, still no video.

How can I get my laptop to send the video signal to my TV via a S, RCA or Component video input, when all I seem to haveon my laptop is HDMI and VGA out.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

response will be better if ya mentioned what laptop and model. its in the manual. Had a Toshiba dont remember which one because my kids have it now. hooked it up and think 'FN' + 'F10' . it turned off the laptop screen and transferred to the TV. then used a wireless keyboard and mouse in the living room. NICE............

I tried everything in the manual and I am not a Newbie with computers, except I feel like one with this.

It is an HP HDX 16 and the function is I think FN + F10, I get NOTHING, just a black screen and no sign that a signal is being sent. I do get the graphic on the laptop that it is sending signal, but the TV screen shows nothing.

I checked my scan freq and it is set at 60hz.

Relax.........i have a Sony tv. I did have to change a setting in the controller for the tv. i can't look now but the controller should have something under options to redirect to computer. take a look. i will look at my options on the tv later.
thats fair.

i had some notes and said FN + F5.
using the remote for tv (not the cable box remote).

It was a Sony Bravia
Using PC settings set to PC mode input.

good luck.....

Thanks Tremmor

My TV is a Toshiba and doesn't have any PC inputs, VGA or DVI. All my TV has is "S" "Component" and "RCA Video" plus the normal RF Input.

My laptop has VGA and HDMI outputs only.

I have a VGA to Component Adapter, which is a Male VGA to 3 Female RCA, which are Green Red and Blue.

I get no results from it.

Thanks for the effort, very much appreciated.

Best bet before ya get burn out.
call support for laptop or and tv manufacture.

Or visit the manufacture for your model and click on support.
Sometime its a learning curve. everybody has them often enough.
then post your results. maybe i will pickup something and learn.
for sure its a great place to search and find answers years from now.
its not just a support site. its a storage i think.........
cheers........tremmor

Be advise, BEFORE I came here, I have already posted my question at the HP support site, it has sat there since Jan 8, UNANSWERED.

Toshiba told me it should work.

I know it should work, but my question was. Why ain't it?

I have found more answers to my questions, over the years, on websites such as this.

These sites are filled with two kinds of people; Those that have, and those that will. It is the vast experience that you tap into on these sites and that is why I am here.

Thanks again
