my laptop won't boot

It is an IBM ThinkPad i can't specify the model because it won't boot up.As soon as i power it on it goes to the usual IBM ThinkPad screen, which gives the options: Press F1 for IBM BIOS Setup Utility and Press F12 to choose temporary boot device. It freezes here on start up and you is unresponsive when you press F1 or F12. I was running Windows XP and have the disk however; it is unresponsive to the windows CD as well. I have searched everywhere with no results.
 
well thats interesting maybe the cd/dvd drive is bad and there for can't read it. either you might be missing something or it might be hardware related.
