hey
my mobo in my sig makes beeps (long short short)
i can't find my manual to know what that means
and i tried downloading the manual from giga-byte site but doesnt work
any help what the beep means ?
That will depend on the bios on the board itself. Often a single long and two short beeps piont to a bad video card.
Description1 Long, 2 ShortA video error has occurred and the Bios cannot initialise the video screen to display any additional information. http://www.comptechdoc.org/hardware/beepcodes/1.htm
Award has many versions going out to different board manufacturers that may make modifications. But every link for error codes show this as a cause.
Are you having any display problems? Other errors point to the installed memory.
Memory was the other item to look at. Try running memtest as well as seeing if you have the latest bios update. You can look at the temps but generally an audio error points at a hardware fault. The question now after getting to work is for how long? When the old board went on one case here the system would freeze up right when reaching the desktop. Lowering the memory timings or maybe memory clock on your board suddenly saw a normal running system again. The bios or chipset was apparently failing. But that was on an Asus board.
On several sites where Award bios error codes are listed those two references are the only ones seen. One for video with any others pointing at memory. On some bioses a long followed by one short indicates a successful test of memory and then after a pause you hear the default beep. Unfortunately a good web search didn't come up with a main support link.
At least you corrected the problem however.
