My motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131030

I haven't start building yet since all of my parts haven't arrived, but I was looking at the contents of my box and had some questions.

1) There are little things on my motherboard that are bent. I'm not sure what they are; they may be transistors. They are not bent all the way, but it is tilting a little bit. Is this okay? Will the motherboard still work? There are about 4 of them that are tilting.

2) I was looking at the cables and noticed there was a fat black cable for a HDD and another for a floppy drive. I don't use a floppy drive but I do have an optical drive. Is it okay to use the floppy drive cable for my optical drive? If not, will I have to buy a separate one for my optical drive?

It should be no problem, Often the capacitors, etc are not perfectly strait. This won't hurt performance or anything at all.

As long as the cable is the same type, It will be no problem.

Except FDD and IDE are two different cables.

No, that other cable will not work with your cd drive. Most likely if you bought a new cd drive that is not OEM, it should come with a cable. If not they should be relatively cheap. If you want to be on the safe side, just get an extra.

I do not suggest running your HDD on the same cable as your cd drive.

Where can I get this cable and what should I ask for when I'm looking for it? Can I go to RadioShack or any other electronic store and find it?

Btw, thanks for the respones.

Any ATA cable, also known as IDE cable will work. If you want specifics look for one that is ATA133 or ATA100 but I dont think they make any other kind, at least not anymore. Also it doesnt matter if you get ribbon or rounded, thats purely for aesthetics. Length is your choice also.

Ratshack should have some, but the cheapest I see is 7 bucks for a ribbon which in my opinion is way overpriced. Newegg has rounded for much cheaper.

This looks good.

Ok, I have one FDD cable (labled Floppy cable) and one IDE/PATA cable (labelled HDD cable). I can use my SATA cables for the hard drive, so can I use the IDE/PATA cable for my DVD-ROM drive?
