i have a dell optiplex GX1 mainboard (not sure if its the original, but it has a pentium 3 chip and has a part AT/part ATX psu) (im not that good with computers. but im learning:cool: .) well anyways whenever i turn the computer on, it beeps and wont stop(still goes into bios). then i left it on for about an hour with the speaker unplugged and it was still in bios. i shut it down and restarted it and nothing came up on screen.(cpu didnt overheat. it has a fan) what do i do to get it running again?

What you need to do is find out what the beep codes are, then go from there. Like there is a manual for your mobo and BIOS. They will tell you three beeps means this and continous menas that. could be any hardware failure or jumper settings to loose connections and so on.

Just because a CPU has a fan does not mean it didn't over heat.....And a future suggestion, next time dont leave it on if it happens again.

Have you tried resetting the bios?
