My New Computer

Hey, I recently bought and put together a new computer for the first time, and its running great, I love it :) got alot of help from here and now i'd like to make a few adjustments to it. Im looking to reduce some of the fan noise but I dont know where to start, My system looks like this...

Case: Cooler Master Elite 430, 1 front fan preinstalled
Motherboard: ASUS M5A87
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 960T with Stock cooling
RAM: 2x4 gb Kingston Valueram
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6850
PSU: Corsair CX600 V2
Extra Fan: Cooler Master Sickleflow 120mm 19dBA as exhaust fan

I suspect its the CPU stock cooling thats loud, but if anyone has a great tip or some experience with these parts id love to hear:)

I would get an aftermarket cooler simply for better preserving your processor. Would also help if you ever decided to overclock.

Besides that, you could get a simple fan controller to turn down your fan speeds. That, or find some software to do the same thing.
 
CPU stock cooling is notoriously loud. As Troncoso said, the first priority would be an aftermarket cooler.
 
Do you have a price range?

Have you considered a closed loop liquid cooler? They are obviously more money, but no maintenance, mainly quiet, and doesn't take up a ton of space like most heatsink/fan combos do.

Corsair has single rad/fan units in their H-series for 60-80 bucks.
 
I guess my budget would be no more than 50$ I dont think liqiud cooling is necesary for my needs, as im not into overclocking, also im not sure if my case will fit liqiud cooling inside
 
Before you buy you could download EVGA Precision and see if you can turn down the gpu's fan speed some and see if that's what's making the noise. Otherwise get the hyper 212 and with that cooler, seriously put it at 4ghz, it'll still be cooler than that thing is now and it won't shorten the life enough to where you'd notice, it'll still last you a good 10 years or more.

Fair enough, just wanted to throw it out there. :)

But thats why I recommended a closed loop setup, so it takes up way less room then a heatsink and fans, and there is no maint.

Take a look at the Corsair H-series coolers anyhow,

The closed loop coolers (H80, H100 etc) cannot really be regarded as proper watercooling. They perform similarly to the high end air coolers, but are less imposing on internal airflow.

Exactly, not true watercooling, but a good solution to cool and particularly to save room by avoiding a bulky heatsink/fan in smaller cases!

The Reason I said im not into OC'ing is probaly because I dont fully understand the risk and rewards by doing it, guess its something I can learn.

After some research the Corsair H-series looks interesting, I should be able to fit the H80 model into my case? I have room for a 120mm fan on the back, and then move the fan I have installed already to the top as exhaust?

It will fit fine and should give decent performance.
