My new GTX660 issues!

So, I just got a Galaxy GTX 660, bought it on newegg's black Friday sale. I installed it today, booted pc up. updated drivers, and went straight into a game of BF3. played for about 3-4 minutes just fine, and it encounters an error. fails to start up every time from then on. Planetside 2, Skyrim, Dungeon Defenders, Mafia 2, all failed to run more than a minute or two without crashing. Half failed to even start at all. I tried both of my PCI-E slots, all 4 of my 6 pin connectors, the beta drivers, tried to reinstall proper drivers, twice. I even got 2 bsod's browsin the web. I'm 99% sure this card is junk and I need to RMA, however before I do, is there something I might be overlooking?

This is not my first time dealing with a gpu install, I built my whole pc from the ground up. And it is not my first time doing so, I just always get EVGA or ASUS cards. NEVER had an issue with either.

For reference, this is the GPU I bought.

So, after I reinstalled the card again, and did yet another fresh install, it isn't crashing constantly. I managed to play mafia 2 for almost an hour straight no issues. However at almost max settings during the benchmark I only got 30fps average...that seems way too low for my setup. 1366x768 is my resolution. Am I crazy? My 460 had around 30fps average as well at completely max settings.

Remove all overclocks and see if it continues.

If so, comletely uninstall video drivers and use DriverSweeper to remove all traces. Install latest from nvidia. Then if that doesn't work

Ensure you have the latest motherboard bios, drivers, on all hardware and monitor temperatures during gaming.

If temps are low and all drivers are up to date you should consider backing up and install windows again, OR, RMA.

Ok, so i am pretty sure i figured out why it messed up. I had the EVGA Precision and the Galaxy OC software both up by default. After closing the Galaxy one in favor of Precision it isn't crashing. I benchmarked it at 60fps max settings in Mafia 2, 60fps max settings Skyrim, and all other games were a breeze. I still got 49 FPS on Total War Shogun 2. Is it my cpu not holding up its end of the job or what? i need to re-overclock my cpu now as well, that should help a little.
