My Old Travelmate 6160 (problems)

So recently I've come across an old Texas Instrument Travelmate 6160 (I think it was made in 1997). Anyway, I was using it yesterday for fun because it still worked and everything.

It started up fine, but then one time i tried starting it up but it said the operating system couldn't be found. So I turned it off and tried again and it worked.

Then later, I tried starting it up and I kept getting the same error even after multiple attempts of restarting. I wasn't too worried about it because I was going to reformat the computer anyway.

However, I'm trying to start it up but it's not working. It starts up and all the lights just below the screen and to the left of Texas Instrument light up, but then all but the Turbo and the lock with the arrow light turn off. Afterwords, a series of beeping occur.

Anybody give me a hand with this? This is going to be a really neat project.

When I start it up, the screen is simply black. I know its on though because the power button is on and so are the lights I described before.

The beep sequence goes are followed:

One Beep
Pause
Four Beeps
Pause
Two Beeps
Pause
One Beep

I'm not sure where to classify that in those beep codes you linked me

Maybe is has multiple hardware problems, so it's giving more than one beep code. Do you know what kind of BIOS you have?

I'm not too sure. TBH with ya, I'm mediocre when it comes to computer (which is actually probably more than what most people can say haha)

I'm willing to bet that the beep codes are specific to Texas Instruments Laptops, if you want to know what they mean, you should hunt down the original documentation which might be on TI's website.

The 1st Google I did your post is 1st link, ha ha. 2nd is this, link, go to Self Test Beep Error Messages (last chapter). Your beep code is 1-4-2 which sadly means a memory issue in the 1st 64KB. Sorry but not looking good for you at the moment.
