I have had a few people tell me that the Pentium D 805 isnt that good for gaming so i want to overclock it to make a little bit better for gaming.
Is my processor, motherboard and ram good for overclocking or shouldnt i do it with these parts?

Custom Rig
CPU: Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield @ 2.66Ghz
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-965G-DS3
RAM: Corsair XMS2 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR2 800
GPU: Asus 7600GS 256MB PCI-E x16 (461/922MHz)
DRIVE: Nec ND-3550A 16x DVD burner
SOUND: onboard sound & Virtual Reality Sound labs VRS 2.1C speaker system
HDD: Western Digital Caviar 320GB SATA 3.0GB/s
PSU: Antec SmartPower 2.0 450watt
CASE: Aspire X-Plorer black/blue steel mid tower atx

Do u have this now or are u starting this build?

You might as well go with a 925 or higher and not OC. Or you could step it up to a C2D. And the reason it's not good for gaming is because it only has a 533 FSB. Your motherboard has a lot more potential than that, it is very good at OC'ing a Core 2 Duo. Of course, I am like you(same age) and building budgeted PCs. This summer I am building a whole new rig, an ABIT AW9D-MAX, Core 2 Duo E6600, 2Gb RAM, 8800GTS. My P4HT does fine though. If you play older games, they only use one core, so your wasting a core on those games and it can be slower.

If you want to overclock, the 805 is great for overclocking. It can reach high speeds (up to ~4.1Ghz)...if you have adequate power and cooling. Be prepared to spend some money on cooling if you are going to try overclocking it.

About how many degrees will the cpu temp increase? Looking to get it up to around 3.2GHz or higher possibly.

Your oc will depend on both cores. One may hit 4ghz while one is stuck at 3.2. So don't push it farther than both cores can handle. temperature is affected by the voltage specifically, so as long as you dont over volt too much you shouldnt see much of a temp increase.

You have a great motherboard for over clocking, you should, with proper cooling be able to reach 3.2ghz. A noticeable increase in performance, or at least benchmarking.

At 100% load it gets up to 62°C. To get it up to 3.2GHz do you think i would have to up the voltage some?

That seems hot, but appropriate for that cpu. I would recommend an after rmarket HSF otherwise those temps may get out of control.
