my solution, and it worked!

throughout my other threads i have complained about my computer shutting off every 4 or 5 rounds when playing counter-strike on my computer. i thought it was the power supply (which is very well still could be) but i have came to figure out that by putting some elbow grease and ghettoness into the contraption i have fixed it. here are some pics of my new setup! :)

so that is how i fixed my problem. took the side panel off and stuck a fan in there on high. hope this helps anyone else with this problem and now im saving 40-50 bucks :D

haha, yes, i am a genius  i got my cpu running from 132 to 105-118 by removing the side panel and putting that fan in. also my cs never shuts down, saved me about 60 bucks :D:D

Hehe that solution doesnt work forever though hehe especially so if you dont have AC :P

I leave one of my old computers case open (but no fan).
Just be careful of dust and dropping things into the case/accidentally hitting the inside of the case... that would be very bad...
I don't know why we didn't think of overheating... the first thing that comes to my mind with unexpected shutdowns when doing cpu intensive tasks is heat...

yeah i was thinking all power supply but then i just stuck that fan in and no shut downs. i use dust-off to get the dust off and i usually dont have anything near the case to ruin the parts inside im careful bout that

nice nice nice. i applaud u. lol. but.... the bad thing for me is..... my full tower is stuck between a desk and a cabinet. so theres reli no place to put a fan. o well..

well... the last time i had to do something like that was with my Pentium 75.
attached a vacum cleaner to it cuz the fan was down.
nicely done :)

I had a really old computer, and i used to go on the internet, and it gave me the windows bluescreen message, then i decided to put a fan blowing into it (one of the bif house fans, lol) and it worked. It was overheating because there was no heatsink or fan on the CPU.

hehe lucky for you the p3-800 doesnt make damn near any heat :D
By the gods, I had a P3-450, and I swear, I could've almost frozen popsicles on that sucker! It had a large heatsink (huge, no fan, and almost as big as my hard-drive!), which I think they put on more for comical effect than for cooling...

My brother's friend was having overheating problems, but couldn't afford to get liquid cooling or a new HSF setup, so he opened up both sides of the case (obviously his MOBO plate had openings...) and he set up a three foot tall, heavy-duty, leaf-blower of a fan next to his case. End of heat issues ;)

Haha

Why not? It just does not look the nicest. I was considering doing a mod with something very simmilar....from one of those clear plastic ones and ifiitng it with blue LEDs. That would be hardcore cooling.....and a nice CFM rating.

JAN :D

Online stores sell tiny tiny canisters of liquid nitrogen (-196 degrees C). They are copper cubes about 1" high and the same in depth, filled with liquid nitrogen. Apparently you're supposed to buy just one of these cubes and basically stand it inside the case.....

The coper does it's job as a great thermal conductor and your case temp plummets to around 2-5 degrees..............simple
