i have a sony vaio from a few years ago. i have been going off of wireless internet connection, so i decided to change back to wired for better connection. plug my ethernet into the slot, and it doesnt even pick up that there is internet going to the computer. i go to refresh my connection and it says: tcp/ip not enabled for this connection, cannot proceed. i went to sony to see if i could find the problem there. i typed in the computer model i found on the back (pcv-1132) and supposedly it doesn't even exist... my wireless connection sucks and im trying to get back to wired. Any suggestions on how i can fix this?

Hi Final Burden-

First off, what OS are you using?

If you are using XP Home/Professional - chances are the ethernet card isn't refreshed to see an IP. Chances are, you have to find out what your IP address is on the adapter. If you are curious to know this, get a command prompt and check it. That's the first thing. Chances are, it may not be enabled to get an IP address.

You need to do a ipconfig!

Hope this helps!
