My Windows7 activated twice...

So I got my dad a new OCZ SSD and we used my Windows7 Pro x64 disk to install on the drive till he got home in a few weeks and could use his newly purchased product key.

Fully anticipating he would just use the un-activated version of Win7, as I used the key already on my machine.

I click activate and it activated and says it is genuine! Thus making this the 2nd activated copy of Win7 using the same product key.

Has anyone experienced this? Possibly just a one off quirk that allowed multiple activations?

Just thought I'd ask as we were both surprised!

How can that possibly be answered in open forum :D

Send me a PM (I cant find how to send them) and I'll give my answer.

A user can't send or receive pm's unless they have 100 posts. When you reach 100 posts you will however, be able to read any pm's sent to you from the time you signed up until the 100 post mark.

someone else mentioned that, that a oem might work.
still interesting though. notice the statement might work.
life is good.

i would think eventually if you are running both copies microsoft will eventually pick up on it, but if you are only using it as a temp to give you a working system until you recieve the home disc you should find it will last that long

if he's activated he is good to go. Making changes again could be different. Maybe a video card or another motherboard. that might not work. say another way. never worked for me.
oh well......

Like jamesd1981 said. You will probably be alright for awhile, till you start checking for updats on both and try downloading things that need to be validated from microsoft. Then it will probably deactivate one of them.
