NAT: Strict, XBOX 360

Hi, I have a xbox 360 and the following network setup.

BT Voyager 205 connected to a belking wireless router via ethernet.

And then from the router to my xbox, again via ethernet.

When doing the network test on the xbox, it passes all but NAT status is strict, which is preventing me from connecting to other hosts online. All i can do online is update my gamertag, message people, no actual online gaming. I have a xbox live account.

Anyone know how I alter this , I know its a router setting,

NAT is enabled on the router, tried with and without firewall, still dont work...

Any one able to help..?

NAT shouldn't prevent you from connecting, it should prevent remote hosts from connecting to you. In your router configuration, set up the Xbox's MAC address as DMZ and see if that makes a difference.

^ good idea m8, Ive got the same router as tom and after hours of faffin about I forwarded the ports and it never played up since.

Hmmm that is odd, did you try what tlarkin suggested?

EDIT: also find out what version of firmware the router is using and check for any later versions on the internet. If there is I would suggest you update it.

That ok too?

well DMZ puts the xbox outside your router, so any type of security should not even affect it. I am starting to think your router is janky and perhaps buying a new one would be best. I have NAT fully enabled on my WRT54GL at home and I have no issue with Wii online or Xbox live
